We are delighted to welcome our Stoney Education Authority partners in our journey of working together with Morley, Canmore Exshaw and Banff to encourage and celebrate families and communities that we serve. Through a number of guest speakers, elders and community partners, we continue to discover a multitude of ways of knowing. With the support of Canadian Rockies Public Schools, LaFarge and the Banff Community Foundation, our students continue to be involved in real world learning experiences. Some of the incredible experiences our students have enjoyed are learning about Morley artist Roland Rollinmud's historical mural at the Banff Cave and Basin, and learning about the cultural importance of this site. Students have also learned about trapping, trap-making, and living off the land both years ago, and now. This program also allows students to express themselves through exploring different types of art under Roland's direction. Smudging, story-telling, and important discussions about regalia, celebrations, the Bearspaw, Chiniki, and Wesley Bands, political and community discussion are also important for our students. Through interacting with Elders from the Morley community in the Stoney language, students learn how to make traditional drums, traditional beadwork, as well as learning the basics of carving. Developing skills in effective communication, collaboration and critical and creative thinking are important pieces for engagement which Exshaw School strives to create.     https://exs.crps.ca/view.php?action=object&id=747&stream=Our Stories https://exs.crps.ca/view.php?action=object&id=747&stream=Our Stories
