Numeracy at Exshaw School is a high priority at all levels. As per the Alberta curriculum, our Numeracy program includes five strands of math concepts which are Number Concepts, Number Operations, Statistics and Probability, Patterns and Relations, and Shape and Space.
From Kindergarten through grade 8, children work in small, balanced, and cross-graded groups. Students use a wide variety of manipulatives to explore numeracy outcomes. In addition to our daily scheduled math blocks, our school also offers additional math support for students needing reinforcement. A typical numeracy classroom in Exshaw School is a vibrant, interactive, and supportive environment that makes math relevant to student lives.
